Antenatal Care - routine care for the healthy pregnant woman
| Date published: | March 2008 |
| State: | Updated |
Pregnancy is a normal physiological process and any interventions offered should have known benefits and be acceptable to pregnant women.
The guideline aims to:
- Offer information on best practice for baseline clinical care of all pregnancies such as the number and timing of antenatal visits required.
- Provide evidence-based information for clinicians and pregnant women to make decisions about appropriate treatment in specific circumstances.
- Complement the Children's National Service Frameworks, emphasising care delivery and equity of access to care for disadvantaged women.
